Bladder and Bowel Disorders in Children

Families often believe that the causes of urinary incontinence are psychological or genetic, and they believe that it will pass over time. For this reason, families may delay the treatment process and cause the problems to grow and become more complex without realizing it.

Social isolation occurs in children who are not treated with the thought of getting better over time; Problems such as not wanting to stay with friends, not being able to go on boarding trips and wanting to be alone may arise. This isolation can lead to psychological problems such as lack of self-confidence, introversion, shyness and helplessness in children in the future.

These urological problems, which seem very simple; It can cause recurrent urinary tract infections, urinary retention in the bladder, leakage of remaining urine into the kidneys, and permanent damage to the kidneys. More importantly, these permanent damage to the kidney can lead to kidney failure after a while.

The dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles is the basis of these urological problems. Pelvic floor muscles are the horizontally located muscle group at the base of our pelvis. The urethra and anus pass through the pelvic floor muscles. While these muscles are able to hold pee and poop by contracting, they relax and ensure healthy urination and defecation.

Our aim is; with a multidisciplinary approach, to comprehensively investigate bladder-intestinal disorders, the treatment of which requires special knowledge and experience, to solve the root of the problems and to raise more self-confident and happy children. Treating children in a drug-free, painless and fun way is our team's top priority.

It should not be forgotten that children should be supported by competent pediatric urologists, without waiting for the children to struggle with these urological problems that can be treated on their own.
